Great Western Rail - "Poppies To Paddington"
GWR were the very first organisation to get on board with Routes of Remembrance and are now in their third year of "Poppies To Paddington" which has seen more than 500 wreaths make their way across the entire GWR network to Paddington on 11th November where they have been placed at the foot of the fabulous Tommy statue on Platform 1. They form the backdrop to the annual Remembrance service at Paddington Station each year.
Plans are in place once again for 2022 and we expect more than 100 wreaths to arrive in the capital on Armistice Day. Many of these wreaths are being brought to stations across the network by representatives from the Lord Lieutenancy, HM Armed Forces, local authorities and community groups. Wreaths are also being brought by staff and volunteers from organisations that we work closely with on Veteran's welfare as well as Veterans themselves.
