30 April - 4 May 2025
The event is a recreation of a legendary WW2 training march which took place in 1942. Men of the newly formed 'Airborne Division' were undertaking a month of rigorous physical training on the North Devon coast and were given a final task; to march back to their barrack in Bulford - more than 135 miles away!
We cover the distance in the same timeframe as they did over 80 years ago and split the highly demanding route into five, one day sections, each day being an average of 27 miles in length - more than a 5 MARATHONS IN 5 DAYS!
The Forces March attracts people from all walks of life and all ability levels - some are very experience 'ultra-runners' whilst others may never have attempted anything like it before but are inspired by the cause of supporting VC and taking on a life-changing adventure. The event unites serving military personnel and civilians on an epic adventure through some of the UK's most dramatic and stunning scenery. People from all over the world have taken part including teams from as far afield as the British Virgin Islands and the USA. The bond that forms between the participants is extraordinary. Many lasting friendships have been formed on The FM and we've even had a couple get married after meeting on the event in 2010.
The Forces March has raised over £500,000 for The Veterans Charity since it began in 2010 and almost 1000 people have taken part, many of them returning each year to enjoy the adventure again.
